Enemy is a very strange movie, it has Jake Gyllenhaal as a somewhat depressed man who teaches history to college students that don’t seem the least bit interested, and he figures out that he has a double, and the double is much hipper and is married to a beautiful woman, who looks very much like the girlfriend that the other Jake is involved with. This is a movie that I guess gets to showoff both Jake Gyllenhaal, because he plays both parts, and the “Patti Duke Philosophy of Life”, which is someone playing both parts. The problem is, you don’t care all that much about either Jake, and you can kinda see the denouement coming from a long way away. So for Jake, he gets to show off his chops, but terms of a movie, it doesn’t make a whole lot of sense, so 2.5 stars
