Elaine Stritch: Shoot Me. This is documentary/biopic about Elaine Stritch, it is really interesting because I’ve seen her perform a number of times, and she is not an easy person. In this she is she is approaching her 87th birthday, and she has diabetes, is a self-proclaimed alcoholic, and her alcoholism is clearly part of her schtick, when I’ve seen her live, she talks about it, and she talks about it nearly endlessly in the movie. People were either thrilled by this movie, or depressed by this movie. I think part of it depends on how you view your own mortality. Because here’s a woman that we’re watching literally advance toward the grave, and she is unwilling to go quietly into that goodnight. I found it, if not inspiring, at least energizing, but a lot of people in the audience that were a little older found it depressing, but she is definitely a force of nature. 4 stars
