Edge of Darkness
Edge of Darkness – Movie Review
As homicide detective Thomas Craven investigates the death of his activist daughter, he uncovers not only her secret life, but a corporate cover-up and government collusion that attracts an agent tasked with cleaning up the evidence
Edge of Darkness is a January movie so beware! It stars Mel Gibson, who has certainly had some high highs in his career, as well as some questionable moments. In this one he plays a police officer in Boston and he has a horrible Boston accent, and I’m not giving away any plot surprises by telling you that his daughter is gunned down under strange circumstances on his front porch, and everyone assumes, including him, that because he is a police officer that the intended target was really him. He begins an investigation, and as he points out, he has nothing to lose. The supporting cast includes Ray Winstone, who is wonderful, Danny Houston, who isn’t, Shawn Roberts, Dennis O’Leary, a lot of well known faces if not actors, Jay O. Sanders plays Mel’s partner. This is a movie that it just throws everything including the kitchen sink at you, and I don’t think it worked very well at all. Two stars.
