Delicacy

JOY REVIEW

Delicacy, which is the French translation of delicatesse, stars Audrey Tautou, who was in Amelie, and that’s basically all you need to know about the story.  She’s aged a bit but has still got the adorable, sort of elfin look about her, and the idea being that she falls desperately in love with this guy.  I’m not giving away much of a plot to say that we know when he goes out jogging and they’re talking about having a baby, that he’s dead meat.  I mean right?  We’ve seen enough movies to know that.  So she then becomes a hard-nosed sort of business executive working for a Swedish company and makes a huge pass at this kind of nebbish Swedish guy, and the rest is really just a love story.  It’s about second chances and improbable couplings and it’s really a lovely movie.  Four and a half stars.
