Dead Man Running
A loan shark gives ex-con Nick a period of 24 hours in order to pay back the money he owes. Up against it, Nick involves his best mate on a multi-part mission in order to raise the cash before it’s too late for them both.
Dead Man Running is one of those movies that sounds horrible and the trailer for it doesn’t make it look much better, but it’s really very well written and very well acted. Tamer Hassan stars in it, whose face you may recognize, who’s name you may not, it has 50 Cent Jackson playing a bad guy and Danny Dyer, who is a well-known Brit, special TV actor and Brenda Blethyn, who is wonderful and has won Oscars and things of that sort and some other fairly well known actors show up in it. The story is that Nick is an ex-con who’s gone straight since his mother’s been in a wheelchair, but he owes the evil 50 Cent $100,000 and has 24 hours to come up with it and the schemes that he does. Most of the things that are supposed to surprise you won’t surprise you, but it’s still done with a great amount of style and a certain amount of humor, so I give it three and a half stars.
