A hot shot Washington DC lobbyist and his protégé go down hard as their schemes to peddle influence lead to corruption and murder.
Casino Jack is based on a true story of one of the most famous and highly paid lobbyists in the country. It stars Kevin Spacey, Barry Pepper, Kelly Preston and John Lovitz. And it is really terrific. The opening scene is profane and intense and will probably win at least a nomination for Kevin Spacey as actor of the year. The story is fascinating. It gets very complicated and very hard to follow, which is somewhat of a problem to be quite honest, a little judicious editing. I know it is based on a true story, and I know it’s enormously complicated, but it does get a little Byzantine. But the acting is terrific, and if you ever hated lobbyists, you’ll now understand exactly why. So I give it four stars.
