Brooklyn’s Finest – Movie Review

Three unconnected Brooklyn cops wind up at the same deadly location after enduring vastly different career paths.

Pick of the Week!

Brooklyn’s Finest is Antoine Fuqua’s latest, starring Richard Gere, Don Cheadle, Ethan Hawke, Wesley Snipes, Will Patton, Brian F. O’Byrne, and Ellen Barkin. After seeing Martin Scorcese’s movie right after this, all I could think of was this was very Martin Scorcese esque. As you know, Antoine Fuqua did Training Day to great effect for Denzel, who won an Oscar for it, and Ethan Hawke. And this is not going to make the Brooklyn police department very happy, but it’s terrific drama. There is amazing attention to detail, it’s great acting, and this is probably Richard Gere’s best role ever. He plays a burned out cop. Don Cheadle plays an undercover agent and Ethan Hawke plays basically a good cop who is deeply troubled by financial problems. The texture, the writing, and the acting are all just terrific. This is really the first terrific movie of the year. Five stars. P.S. It’s violent.
