Battle For Terra
Battle For Terra – Movie Review
Aristomenis Tsirbas’ animated film Terra concerns an alien who becomes obsessed with an object in the sky. Eventually, his need to discover what the object is far outweighs the risks he must endure to his safety in order to find out.
“Battle for Terra” is the latest in the 3D rage, the idea being that that’s the only way to get people into theaters anymore is to give them crummy little glasses. They’re certainly much fancier glasses than they used to be; they all make you look like Elvis Costello, as opposed to the fact that you’re wearing cardboard on your eyes. The idea is Earth is destroyed, mankind’s last hope for survival lies in the battle for control of a distant planet against an advanced race of aliens. Woo woo. The animation here is actually — it kind of looks like the heroes are little sperms. What can I tell you, they look like little sperms with heads. I really didn’t dislike this movie, it’s just the animation is a little hard to warm up to because the heroes, as I said, look like sperm. On the other hand, it’s probably one of the few animations that is really going to engage young men, in that it’s basically a battle. It is kind of War of the Worlds. I would give it three stars.
