Baby It’s You, a new musical about legendary girl group the Shirelles. Featuring the group’s classic hits, the show tells the story of the group, New Jersey housewife-turned-record company executive Florence Greenberg, and how they rose to stardom in the early 1960s.

Baby, It’s You is a jukebox musical that really focuses on the Shirelles, which is a group out of New Jersey, that was discovered by a New Jersey housewife, and the songs that not only they sang, but the songs of the era 1958  – 1965;  the Shirelles were, at one point, the number one girl group in the country, He’s So Fine, Told Your Boy, Dedicated to the One I Love, but there are also some other great songs like Shout, Duke of Earl, It’s My Party, the Leslie Gore song. It’s also supposed to be kind of a woman’s anthem of a cute little housewife who decides to go out and take on the music business. The plot is paper thin, but you don’t care. The Shirelles are adorable, there’s some great voices in this, including Geno Henderson, who plays basically all the male roles, he’s terrific, but what you really care about is the music, and the music on this is terrific. Three and a half stars.
