Annapurna , which is not explained until the last 15 minutesof this 95 minute play, is an 8000 foot peak in Nepal, not nearly as famous as Mt Everest, but it has caused a huge amount of deaths. So this is a metaphor, and the play is written by Sharr White starring Megan Mullaly and Nick Offerman, who are husband and wife in real life, and TV stars in real life as well. The problem with this is, despite being married, there is not a lot of chemistry between the two, but the real issue is the play itself, which is trying too hard to be cutsey in the first 15 or 20 minutes. This is a play that really could have been done in 20 minutes. Once we get past all the cutsey stuff, we have a riddle that neither one has the answer too even though its been keeping them apart, even though they have a huge amount of passion for one another. And it is an interesting question, and it is an interesting look at middle aged passion and concerns and issues. But the first and second parts of the plays just don’t really go together. 3 stars.
