Alpha and Omega
Alpha and Omega – Movie Review
A clean-cut high school student relies on the school’s rumor mill to advance her social and financial standing.
Alpha and Omega is the latest 3D animation movie. It stars wolves as opposed to owls or monkeys or anything else. Justin Long plays Humphrey. Hayden Panittiere plays Kate. It turns out Justin is the omega, the cheerful, friendly, happy go lucky wolf of the pack. Hayden is the alpha, which is usually a male, but in this case is a female. The two have a little friendship going but are forbidden to mate because alphas meet with alphas. Dennis Hopper plays Tony, the leader of the other pack. Danny Glover plays Winston who’s Kate’s dad. It turns out that the wolves are starving and they want to take over the valley where the caribou . Meanwhile Humphrey and Kate get relocated to Idaho to mate together and have adventures and then have to get home to save the pack. Very complicated plot clearly, a little bit too complicated for animation. The animation’s okay, but we’ve seen better and I think I’ve seen better uses of 3D. This is an OK movie and young kids may like it. But these days we’ve gotten use to thinking of animation as being some of the most sophisticated of movie making and this one just is isn’t, so I give it two stars.
