A Single Man
A Single Man – Movie Review
A story that centers on an English professor who, after the sudden death of his partner tries to go about his typical day in Los Angeles.
Pick of the Week!
A Single Man has the wonderful Colin Firth playing a 52 year old British college professor whose long-term partner has recently died. Apparently this takes place over a 24 hour period which to be quite honest I didn’t really get. I read the notes after I saw the movie and I really didn’t get the fact that it occurred in a single day. Which actually impacts it a bit. It’s getting a lot of buzz not only because Colin is a terrific actor but also because it’s the first film by Tom Ford, yeah that Tom Ford the fashion director. And it’s a very assured mature work – a truly lovely movie. Not a whole lot happens but it’s evocative. Probably could of been a little shorter, we probably could of held a couple of scenes for a few less seconds, but it’s really an original and lovely piece. Four stars.
