A Bird of the Air
A Bird of the Air is kind of a quirky, romantic comedy that deals with an Amelie-esque outspoken librarian type who has a crush on a cute guy who doesn’t talk to anybody. He is part of the courtesy patrol that wanders around at night and saves people from flat tires, car accidents, whatever. A parrot flies into his trailer and changes everything, causing them to meet at the pet store, as she is an avid dog lover. This is actress Margaret Whitton’s first time directing, and she really has a nice feel for the material, which is based on a book called “The Loop.” It’s offbeat and cute enough that I think it may actually warm the cockles of your heart. She clearly has a feel for animals as well as people’s interaction with them. Three and a half stars.
