8: The Mormon Proposition
8: The Mormon Proposition – Movie Review
A scorching indictment of the Mormon Church’s historic involvement in the promotion & passage of California’s Proposition 8 and the Mormon religion’s secretive, decades-long campaign against LGBT human rights
8: The Mormon Proposition takes a look at proposition 8 in California that was against gay marriage. It’s a very well done documentary that’s kind of scary. It makes the point that if the church is going to be involved in political activities that they should not be tax exempt because basically it means that people can give money to a political action committee and have it tax exempt and untraceable and they’re equally troublesome. It’s certainly heart breaking. On the other hand they’re probably preaching to the choir when it comes to me. So it’s a little hard to evaluate it. As a documentary it certainly has the things you want in a documentary, which is a bit of skullduggery, bad guys, good guys, emotion. So I’d probably give it three stars.
