300: Rise of an Empire. I would say it takes where “300” with Gerard Butler left off, but that’s not completely true even though it starts with Leonitis laid out in lavender, and as any of you know about the Spartans, they held off the Persians, King Darius and thousands of soldiers with just 300 men. This is both the prequel and sequel, and I think the moral of the story is don’t cross Greek women, or you will get yourself into serious trouble. It’s very bloody, but it is very stylized, there is incredible splatter, I don’t know what they used, but it was a huge part of their budget. It’s a combination of comic book, or I suppose they call them graphic novels now, mythology, and Greek history. The cinematography and the scenes are just glorious, the strategy of the battles is brilliant, this was a very entertaining movie, is has the same beefcake walking around in little leather shorts, and in some ways it’s a richer story. So 4 stars
