Memorial Day in Florida
So while the rest of you were staying put and barbequing through the weekend, I was bar mitzvah-ing down in Florida. A dear friend of mine’s two sons were having their big day so we decided to fly down the east side of the U.S. for some sunny Florida fun. We were only there for about 48 hours, but we were on the beach and saw some beautiful ocean. I really value my time off though, and the whole trip felt a little rushed. Not to mention the airport security “hiccup” we had a along the way.
So you know these days you need your ID to fly. Well I thought this meant any ID as long is it had your name and picture on it. The problem was, I tried to use my license which was not one, not two, but four years past expiration. Living in New York and not owning a car, I can’t say I pay much attention to my license and its past due dates. From now on I think I will because I was nearly put on some sort of terrorist watch list. Luckily during my body search I was wearing flip flops and didn’t have to deal with taking off my cowboy boots in front of line of antsy vacationers.
So next time I take it upon myself to fly across the country I think I’ll take a week to do it, one day of which I’ll be getting my license renewed.
