FAT, SICK AND NEARLY DEAD

SYNOPSIS

100 pounds overweight, loaded up on steroids and suffering from a debilitating autoimmune disease, Joe Cross is at the end of his rope and the end of his hope. In the mirror he saw a 310lb man whose gut was bigger than a beach ball and a path laid out before him that wouldn’t end well- with one foot already in the grave, the other wasn’t far behind. FAT, SICK & NEARLY DEAD is an inspiring film that chronicles Joe’s personal mission to regain his health.

JOY’S REVIEW

Fat, Sick, and Nearly Dead is a very well-meaning and perhaps sort of vaguely inspirational documentary about an Australian, whose name is Joe Cross, who is self-described fat, sick, and nearly dead, and goes on a juice fast for 10 days, and feels as if this is the way to all good things in life. There’s a great deal of controversy about juice fasts, but this will probably make you a believer whether you want to be or not. I kind of liked it, and I think that most people think that doing a juice fast for a couple of days is not a terrible thing. But you should do it if you’re at all medically compromised under doctor supervision. But it’s certainly less crazy than a lot of ways that people are trying to lose weight. I’d give it three stars.
