Dance, Like you’ve never danced before.
Well, Joy has a pretty busy schedule this weekend, I know she has several plays to attend, but I was hoping we could have gone to this dance show together- we both love dancing, Joy’s favorite dance is the tango, and mine is probably tap!!
I’m excited to see my friend, Laura Nave’s, dance show on Friday. I love modern dance, and wish my body flexed like those dancers! It was always something that bugged me, when all those girls in dance class fell so easily into the splits, and I stopped mid way, before awkwardly turning red, and wobbling to the side, exasperated- but at least I got some laughs!
IsadoraNOW, is a contemporary dance company, presenting STAND. at the Joyce SoHo Theater, this Thurs, Fri, and Sat night. The theater is really cool, I used to see shows there while I was college.
The show features an innovative mix of historical and contemporary dance including two original works by Isadora Duncan and three new works choreographed by the directors of isadoraNOW-
Elyssa Dru Rosenberg, Laura Nave and Rebecca Woll. Ms. Rosenberg’s piece, performed to music by composer Jordan Kolasinski commissioned specifically for the piece, explores the concept of revolution as imposed by a leader, contrasted with revolution inspired by a leader. Ms. Nave’s choreography looks at the necessary relationships that foster the revolutionary spirit. Ms. Woll’s work delves into the chaos needed to stir individuals or the group to stand up and the attachment and familiarities that hold them back.
Laura has been rehearsing for a while now, and I know she’s excited for the shows. Well, I’ll be rooting her on in the crowd!
