Dr. Joy Browne Inspires Women in to

“Go for BP Goal”

 Radio host leads free seminar and blood pressure screenings addressing a serious women’s health issue   

 

             Nationally syndicated radio host Dr. Joy Browne is teaming up with leading cardiologist Dr. James Rippe to share her no-nonsense approach to motivate women to find out if they or their family members have high blood pressure, work with a physician to set and reach their blood

                pressure goal, and practice healthier lifestyles.  Every day, Dr. Joy helps people work through

                 their problems by helping them set and achieve goals. 

 

As part of the Go for BP Goal campaign, FREE Blood Pressure Screenings and

Educational Seminars will be given around the country.

            

             High blood pressure, also known as hypertension, is a serious chronic condition affecting approximately 73 million adult Americans, and about half are women. It can increase the risk

               of life-threatening consequences, such as heart attack or stroke if left untreated.

·         Over one-quarter of women in the US have high blood pressure

·          High blood pressure affects women of all ages, for example:

o        Nearly 1 in 5 women between the ages of 35 and 44

o        Three-quarters of women between the ages of 65 and 74

o        Approximately 85% of women over the age of 75

·         Approximately, 65 percent of women with high blood pressure and 40 percent of

those taking medication for blood pressure do not have it under control to a goal of less

than 140 mm Hg

 

            Dr. Joy Browne, licensed clinical psychologist, will conduct the seminars with

              James Rippe, MD, Founder and Director of the Rippe Lifestyle Institute, Associate Professor

              of Medicine (Cardiology) at Tufts University School of Medicine and Professor of Biomedical

              Sciences at the University of Central Florida. Both are available for interviews to discuss:

·         Challenges women face in managing high blood pressure

·         Treatment options to lower high blood pressure

·         Ways to follow a healthier lifestyle including diet and exercise advice
